RH Classes Duckling

Spring Term

Welcome to Ducklings’ class!

This term in Ducklings, we set sail on our pirate adventures after reading our storybook, ‘Pirates Love Underpants.’ We got messy with lots of Art and Craft activities, creating pirate puppets, squawking parrots and coffee-stained treasure maps as well as learning all about the ocean and the creatures that live there. We loved welcoming Mr Wharton into class to talk to us all about his job as a fishmonger - we even got to touch some real creatures from the sea! One of the highlights of the term was our class assembly: we were all extremely confident as we sang, danced and acted in front of a huge audience. Not only that, as we then enjoyed a morning of fun with our families during our stay and play session. The Easter bonnet parade provided a lovely end to our exciting term; we all looked lovely in our Easter creations!

Next term we will be stepping into Storyland! Our classroom will be transformed into a magical land of fairytales and traditional tales. We will be focusing on a different story each week, around which all of our activities and learning are based: climbing the beanstalk with Jack; finding our way through the forest with Hansel and Gretal; escaping the Big Bad Wolf with the Three Little Pigs; trip-trapping over the bridge with the three Billy Goats Gruff (trying not to disturb the troll!); and finally outwitting the wolf with Little Red Riding Hood!

We will be having lots of fun through drama and storytelling and, as we read the stories, we will be learning about time, direction and 3D shapes. As with our previous topics, this term will involve lots of exciting welly walks and outdoor learning as well as lots of time spent baking and creating delicious treats!
